He aimed to craft a gourmand scent that was distinct from the patchouli-heavy structure pioneered by Mugler’s Angel, which introduced the gourmand family. Hennessy challenged perfumer Calice Becker to create a sweet, addictive fragrance using ethyl maltol for its sugary allure, but without patchouli, blending it instead with florals like orange blossom and a novel marshmallow accord. The result captures the exhilarating innocence of first love, evoking tender emotions with a sensual, warm amber base.
