When developing Saaqi, the atmosphere of ancient wine taverns along the Silk Road, where India meets Persia, served as the primary muse. The fragrance is conceived as a tribute to the Sufi Saaqi — the wine bearer — and draws on imagery associated with wine, poetry, desire and spiritual connection. Sasva places the composition beneath lantern-lit arches, surrounded by the poetic world of Khayyam, Hafez and Rumi, turning the perfume into an olfactory interpretation of intoxication that moves between sensual pleasure and something more contemplative.
Olfactory Notes
Upon the first spray, Red Wine brings a deep, boozy richness, immediately softened by the creamy nuttiness of Almond and sharpened by Black Pepper . As the fragrance develops, the composition becomes darker and smokier. Tobacco , Smoky Notes and Cedarwood form the heart, evoking the hazy warmth of an old tavern filled with wood, smoke and wine.
Finally, Saaqi settles into a dense gourmand drydown. Oud gives the base woody depth while Vanilla and Caramel introduce a smooth sweetness. Benzoin adds balsamic warmth, and Musk softens the darker materials, leaving the fragrance warm, sensual and enveloping. This progression from wine and spice through tobacco and smoke into vanilla, caramel and oud is also the evolution described by Sasva itself.
