When developing Junoon, the passionate and idealistic devotion portrayed in the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi’s story of Leyla and Majnoon served as the primary inspiration. Sasva interprets this legendary love as an emotion so intense that madness becomes a path toward purification, deeper feeling and the Sufi ideal of higher spiritual consciousness. The fragrance translates this tension between suffering and bliss through rich spices, florals, resins and dark woods.
The brand describes the silky combination of saffron, patchouli and rose, deepened by labdanum and lavender, as an olfactory expression of the simultaneous pain and ecstasy of love. Oud and other woody nuances bring a darker, more contemplative character, evoking sleepless nights and endless dreams.
