Decision 42 explores the image of a juniper tree struck by lightning, poised between destruction and renewed life. Created by Quentin Bisch, this reinterpretation intensifies the original Decision’s dramatic contrasts. Neroli, cardamom and cinnamon evoke the brightness of the strike, while darker woods and resins express the tree’s struggle to survive. Vanilla and labdanum bring warmth to the composition, reflecting the possibility of recovery and continued growth.
Part of Amouage’s Exceptional Extraits collection, Decision 42 contains 42% perfume oil and undergoes six weeks of ageing, comprising two weeks of maturation and four weeks of maceration.
Olfactory Notes
The opening combines bergamot and neroli with pink pepper, cardamom and cinnamon, introducing citrus brightness and spice. The heart brings together frankincense, juniper, myrrh, sandalwood and rectified pine tar, developing the composition’s smoky, resinous woodland character. Patchouli and cedarwood form the woody foundation, accompanied by the warmer sweetness of vanilla and labdanum.
