Maison Tahité Vanilla Fragrances Review: 5 Scents Ranked from Worst to Best
Vanilla may be one of the most familiar notes in perfumery, but Maison Tahité proves that it doesn’t have to be predictable. The Italian fragrance house explores vanilla from several completely different angles, pairing it with everything from salty marine accords and powdery florals to patchouli, coconut milk, caramel, and warm woods.
In this review, I’m ranking five Maison Tahité vanilla fragrances from my least favorite to my favorite: Sel_Vanille, Vanilla², Vanillade, Floranilla, and Vanextasy.
Each fragrance has its own personality, so the lowest-ranked scent isn’t necessarily a bad perfume. Some are simply more versatile and enjoyable to me than others.
All five are Eau de Parfum fragrances available in 100 ml bottles for around $120.

Now, let’s get into each fragrance.
5. Sel_Vanille
Main notes: Vanilla, marine notes, sage, jasmine, aquatic notes, cedarwood
Sel_Vanille takes vanilla in a completely different direction from the typical sweet gourmand fragrance.
This is a salty, aquatic, marine vanilla, and the oceanic side of the composition is impossible to miss.
Vanilla is definitely present, but it is surrounded by a powerful marine effect. There’s a noticeable saltiness and a watery quality that can almost make you feel as though you’ve just come out of the sea.
If you hear “salty vanilla” and immediately think of a soft beach fragrance, however, Sel_Vanille may surprise you. The marine notes are much stronger than I expected.
That intensity is ultimately why I’m placing it fifth.
For someone who loves aquatic fragrances, the combination could be fascinating. But if you’re sensitive to sharp marine accords, this may be the most challenging fragrance in the Maison Tahité vanilla collection.
One thing it certainly doesn’t lack is performance. Sel_Vanille has excellent longevity, and its strong marine character makes it feel even more powerful.
Best for: Anyone looking for an unusual salty, aquatic, beach-inspired vanilla.
4. Vanilla²
Main notes: Vanilla, vanilla flower, praline, powdery notes, benzoin resinoid
If Sel_Vanille is the unusual vanilla of the collection, Vanilla² — or Vanilla Squared — is almost the exact opposite.
This is vanilla turned all the way up.
The fragrance combines multiple interpretations of vanilla with praline, powdery notes, and benzoin to create a sweet, warm, cozy scent.
And the name Vanilla² makes perfect sense. This really does feel like a vanilla overdose.
The praline introduces a sugary, slightly caramelized gourmand quality, while benzoin adds warmth, amber, and a soft resinous character. There are subtle floral nuances in the background as well, along with something that can occasionally feel almost chocolate-like.
Vanilla² isn't particularly complicated, but that's part of its appeal.
Instead of constantly transforming on the skin, it stays relatively linear. Vanilla remains the star from the opening through the drydown.
If what you want is a perfume that simply smells unapologetically like sweet vanilla, Vanilla² delivers.
It may not be the most complex Maison Tahité fragrance, but sometimes you don't need complexity. Sometimes you just want a vanilla bomb.
Best for: Vanilla lovers looking for something sweet, powdery, warm, and gourmand.
3. Vanillade
Main notes: Vanilla, vanilla flower, almond flower, coconut flower, benzoin, musks, patchouli, citrus peel
Vanillade takes the sweetness of vanilla and gives it considerably more movement.
There is still plenty of vanilla here, but it doesn't exist alone. Flowers, patchouli, musk, citrus peel, and benzoin give the fragrance additional contrast and depth.
The patchouli is particularly important.
Its earthy character cuts through some of the sweetness and prevents Vanillade from becoming another straightforward gourmand vanilla.
At the same time, almond flower, coconut flower, and vanilla flower create a soft floral character around the composition. Citrus peel provides a small flash of brightness, while benzoin contributes warmth and an amber-like sweetness.
Compared with Vanilla², Vanillade feels more dynamic.
Instead of giving you one dominant vanilla impression from beginning to end, there are more details to discover as the fragrance develops.
The musks and patchouli also make it feel more like a complete perfume rather than simply an exploration of vanilla as a single note.
Vanillade came very close to reaching my top two. If you love vanilla but want something with more earthiness, florals, and personality, this may actually be the sweet spot of the collection.
Best for: Vanilla lovers who enjoy floral, earthy, musky, and slightly citrusy fragrances.
2. Floranilla
Main notes: Vanilla, violet, iris, heliotrope, vetiver, myrrh, tangerine
Floranilla is where things get particularly interesting.
Instead of emphasizing the gourmand qualities of vanilla, Maison Tahité surrounds it with violet, iris, heliotrope, vetiver, myrrh, and tangerine.
The result is powdery, floral, woody, slightly earthy, and very distinctive.
For me, violet is one of the stars of Floranilla.
It gives the perfume an airy, almost ozonic quality while also introducing that recognizable violet-candy sweetness. Heliotrope adds another powdery dimension with its soft almond-like character, and iris creates a smoother, almost cosmetic feeling.
Then the vetiver changes the texture.
Its earthy and woody qualities give Floranilla more structure and prevent the composition from becoming excessively soft or powdery. Myrrh brings warm resinous sweetness, while tangerine adds enough brightness to keep everything moving.
Vanilla ties all these elements together.
Floranilla may remind some people of the vanilla-heavy character found in Dior Fahrenheit Le Parfum, particularly because of its sweet and powdery qualities. But don't expect it to smell like the original Fahrenheit. There is no leather-driven character here.
Floranilla is much more focused on violet, flowers, woods, earthiness, and vanilla.
That's exactly why I enjoy it so much. It's delicious without becoming an obvious dessert fragrance, and it shows just how versatile vanilla can be.
Best for: Fans of violet, powdery perfumes, woody florals, and unconventional vanilla fragrances.
1. Vanextasy
Main notes: Vanilla, coconut milk, balsam of Peru, caramel, sandalwood, cedarwood
Vanextasy takes the number-one spot, and for me, it's the strongest fragrance in this Maison Tahité vanilla lineup.
This is a creamy, warm, woody, spicy vanilla with enough gourmand sweetness to make it comforting without turning it into a simple dessert scent.
The opening immediately gives you plenty of vanilla alongside a creamy coconut milk effect.
Caramel adds sweetness and richness, while balsam of Peru introduces a deeper balsamic warmth. As the fragrance develops, sandalwood and cedarwood create a smooth woody foundation underneath everything.
Those woods are important because they keep the vanilla, coconut, and caramel from becoming overwhelmingly sweet.
But there is another element that makes Vanextasy especially interesting: spice.
Even though specific spices aren't listed among the main notes, I notice a warm, slightly sharp spicy character running through the fragrance. It reminds me somewhat of the gentle warmth you might get from nutmeg.
It's not aggressive or overpowering. Instead, it gives the vanilla energy and makes the composition feel more alive.
Vanextasy is rich and comforting, but it never becomes boring.
There's even something calming about it. The creamy vanilla and coconut create softness, while the balsamic, woody, and spicy elements provide enough contrast to keep you coming back to smell it again.
Performance is also strong, making this an excellent choice for anyone who wants a substantial vanilla fragrance rather than something light and fleeting.
Out of all five Maison Tahité vanilla fragrances, Vanextasy is the one I would choose first.
Best for: Fans of creamy, spicy, woody, amber-rich, and gourmand vanilla fragrances.
Which Maison Tahité Vanilla Fragrance Is Best?
For me, Vanextasy is the best Maison Tahité vanilla fragrance overall.
It has the richness you expect from a vanilla-focused perfume, but the combination of coconut milk, caramel, balsam of Peru, sandalwood, cedarwood, and that subtle spicy quality gives it much more dimension.
Floranilla is my second choice and probably the most distinctive fragrance of the five. If you enjoy violet and powdery florals, it's absolutely worth exploring.
Vanillade is a great middle ground for someone who wants vanilla combined with patchouli, musk, and florals, while Vanilla² is the easiest recommendation for anyone whose priority is simply getting as much sweet vanilla as possible.
Finally, Sel_Vanille is the wild card. Its strong salty marine character makes it the most divisive fragrance here, but it could also be exactly what someone who loves aquatic perfumes is looking for.
Final Thoughts
Maison Tahité's vanilla collection demonstrates just how many personalities a single note can have.
Vanilla can be salty and aquatic in Sel_Vanille, sweet and powdery in Vanilla², earthy and floral in Vanillade, violet-driven and woody in Floranilla, or creamy and spicy in Vanextasy.
That's what makes exploring the collection interesting: these aren't five versions of essentially the same vanilla perfume.
If you're new to Maison Tahité, I'd start with Vanextasy for the most complete overall experience. For something more unusual, try Floranilla. And if all you want is a big, cozy cloud of sweet vanilla, Vanilla² should probably be your first stop.
As always with fragrance, sampling before buying a full bottle is the safest approach. That's especially true with Sel_Vanille's intense marine character and the sweeter gourmand fragrances, which can behave very differently depending on your skin and personal taste.
